Alfonso Guerrido, Jr.

Alfonso Guerrido, Jr. passed on Monday, September 27, 2021, surrounded by the loving light of his immediate family. Alfonso was born on March 11, 1963, to Judith and Alfonso Guerrido Sr. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1982 to 1988 at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

A loving husband, selfless father, and caring brother, Alfonso’s life was marked by determination and triumphs. His work ethic and entrepreneurial skills were evident from early on in his life. He demonstrated a great degree of grit and a desire to always be self-sufficient. This was evident as he tackled the bustling environment of New York City as a street vendor in front of Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Never a stranger to hard work and always a devoted provider for his family, Alfonso would go on to work a range of jobs from motor vehicle operator for the United States Post Office, to food delivery driver for high-end restaurants. His enterprising, energetic spirit along with his openness to learning and desire to help others served him well during his time in sales as well as a small business owner.

And, while work brought Alfonso great joy and allowed him to provide for his family, his greatest joy was in the precious moments he spent with his family whether at home or traveling. His life was also enriched by being of service to others -- a practice rooted firmly in his faith and manifested in his service as a volunteer at home of worship, Lake Mary Church. His desire to uplift, support, and care for others were reflected in his volunteer service as a designated driver safely transporting high school members of the Lake Mary Church Student Warriors Awakening Generations (SWAG) program as well as in generously providing security services during church events.

Alfonso’s contributions, accomplishments, and the many ways in which he inspired others through his positivity in life are beyond what can be captured in words. His greatest legacy will forever be the love, joy, positivity, faith, and presence that he shared with his family and all those who were blessed to know him.
Alfonso is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Maria Guerrido, his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher Guerrido and Jenna Guerrido; sons, Michael Guerrido and Danye Guerrido, and his sister Elba Gouvia.

A Celebration of Alfonso’s
