Beverly Anne Petke

Beverly Anne Petke, 71-years-old, died on Saturday, February 16, 2019, in her home at the Alliance Community, DeLand Florida.  Throughout her life, she often struggled through physical difficulties.  Through it all, Jesus was always right there with her. Her unwavering faith in God, strong will to live, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through.

Beverly was a deeply devoted wife, a very loving mother, and a proud Nana.  All along her life, she reached out and touched many lives.  Her desire was to honor and glorify Christ in all she did. Bev was known for her contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor.  She was blessed by her ease at which she would strike up conversation with others and make them feel loved.

Bev was born on July 25, 1947 in Franklin, PA, the younger of 2 girls to Eugene and Geraldine Evans. After graduating from Franklin High School, she attended Crown College, Minnesota with a desire to major in music education where she met many wonderful life-long friends along the way. Beverly later transferred to Steven’s Point, WI, completing a Bachelor of Music Education degree and shortly after began her teaching career.

While in Wisconsin, she met the love of her life, James Petke, in Marshfield, WI.  The couple married on July 12, 1975 in Marshfield.  Married for over 43 years, Beverly and Jim raised their 2 children, Amy and Alan in Chambersburg, PA.  Bev continued her teaching career at Chambersburg Area School District.  While living in Chambersburg for many years, her life was greatly enriched by many more life-long friends. She continued to put on display the Jesus she followed impacting many around her.  Again, her trust in Jesus, constant nurturing love, and joking around could easily be seen through the overflowing joy in her smile.

The couple retired in 2010, and shortly thereafter moved to the Alliance Community in DeLand, FL.

She is survived by:
Husband of 43 years: James R. Petke
Mother of 2 Children & Spouse: Amy Petke of DeLand, FL., and Alan & Janelle Petke of Belle Vernon, PA.
Grandmother to 4: Andrew Petke, Grant Petke, Alex Greer, and Natalie Petke.
