Darryl "DJ" Lynn Franks, Jr.
Darryl Lynn Franks Jr, affectionately known as “DJ,” passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 with family by his side.
DJ was born May 18, 1987 in Osteen, Florida to Darryl Franks and Patricia Berry. He lived, played, and attended school in the Osteen/Deltona area all his adolescent life. Upon completing high school, he enlisted in the US Army. DJ proudly served 6 years as a Combat Medic with combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also served abroad in South Korea and Germany. Though DJ returned safely from his service, many Soldiers attest that without DJ, they would not have come home at all. We are thankful for his service to this great country.
After his military service, DJ returned to the Deltona area to be with family and start one himself. Everyone knew DJ was crazy about his daughter Aria—they were inseparable. Fatherhood was not a chore to DJ but a joy. His love and devotion to Aria was apparent to everyone. DJ’s family will always have the memories of him pouring into this young soul. And now the world has Aria to remind us of him.
Until the day DJ left us, his heart was grieved by the recent passing of his brother Josh. They too seemed inseparable as they shared every aspect of life together. DJ struggled to live without him. The family finds comfort knowing they’re together again. We entrust them both into the Lord’s gracious hands.
DJ is survived by his parents, his precious young daughter Aria and her affectionate mother Amanda Westervelt. His sisters Christi Rezabek and Barbara Jean Rush, and half-sisters Patricia (Trisha) and Dominic (Niki) Buono also share in this grief of losing their beloved brother.
Services will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. Military honors will be given per DJ’s request. Family welcomes all to attend.
