David A. Butler, of Lake Helen, FL, and formerly of Lake Ariel, PA died on February 7, 2018 at Fish Memorial Hospital, Orange City, FL.  He was the son of Homer and Pearl (Woodruff) Butler, Lake Ariel, PA.


​He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Shaffer), Lake Helen, FL.  Also surviving are his children Lois Laudig, John Butler, Michael Butler, Kathleen Metschulat and Denise Rose.  He is also survived by stepdaughters, Sharon Staats, Robin Vandermark and Dawn Moir. A brother Clarence Butler, Lake Ariel, PA and a sister, Jean Elston, DeLand, FL, his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.


​David's enjoyment in life was his Butler's Express train which he used at one time on Daytona Beach. He also enjoyed taking friends and family for tours of Lake Helen.  At Christmas time he had a business taking passengers around town to see the Christmas lights. He also had a snack shop to keep the crowd happy while waiting for the next train to leave the station.


​He always had time for visits from friends and family, near and far.  He enjoyed his visits to Pennsylvania when he was in better health.
