David Louis Ross, 68 of DeLand, Florida passed away on Monday August 7, 2017. He was born on October 24, 1948 in Gary, Indiana to Louis Ross and Patricia Atrosh. He moved from Flagstaff, Arizona in 1981. He worked as a Math Professor at Embry-Riddle. He also was a bible study leader, was on the Trinity United Methodist Committee, worked the Church Food Drive and was a hospice volunteer where he played the piano at nursing homes. He loved his family and teaching his grandchildren new things. He enjoyed backpacking and camping outdoors, chess, reading, golf, cooking, traveling, philosophy and music. He was a Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout. He is survived by his wife Judy of DeLand, FL, sisters Nedra O'Hara of Clearwater, FL and Janet Anders of Port Orange, FL, daughters Carrie Hofmann of Altadena, CA and Rachel Quarberg of DeLand, FL, son Joel Ross of DeLand, FL and well as 9 grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9-11am with a Memorial Service at 11am at Trinity United Methodist Church 306 West Wisconsin Avenue DeLand, Florida. Reception to follow in the Fellowship Hall at the Church.
In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
