Hector M. Gonzalez

Hector M. Gonzalez, 56 of Orange City, Florida passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2021. He was born on August 15, 1964 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico to Hector M. Gonzalez, Sr. and Sonia Mercado. He and his wife, Aida, married and lived in Levittown, NY before moving to Orange City, FL 19 years ago. Hector served in the United States Army before working in Law Enforcement as a New York City Police Officer. After retiring from the NYPD, he moved to FL and worked as a physical ED teacher, manager at SEARS, juvenile detention officer, armed security at Oviedo ER, and his most recent employment as a Road Ranger on I4. Even after retirement, Hector continued to find ways to be a civil servant of the community. He loved fishing, traveling on cruises, and enjoyed watching tv with the family. He always enjoyed gatherings with family and friends.


Hector was the patriarch of the family. He had a special personality that was infectious which made everyone around him smile. Hector is survived by his wife of 31 years, Aida Gonzalez, his son, Eric Gonzalez and wife Angelica Gonzalez, his son, Gabriel Gonzalez, and his daughter, Rebecca Lopez, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, family, friends, and many loving in-laws. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.


A Gathering of Family and Friends with Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 10:30am with a Funeral Service at 12pm at River City Church 267 East Highbanks Road DeBary, Florida 32713.  


Please adhere to social distancing guidelines and masks must be worn during the service.


Interment with Military Honors will follow the funeral service at Hollywood Cemetery 1031 South Carpenter Avenue Orange City, Florida 32763.
