Leon Raleigh Boman

It is with great sadness that the family of Leon Raleigh Boman, 83, announces his passing on August 15, 2019, at his home in De Leon Springs, FL., surrounded by his loving family.

Leon was born December 17, 1935 in Tobacco Township, Gladwin County, MI, to Leonard and Dorothy (Wilson) Boman. He graduated from Midland High School in 1954.

Leon was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Jane (Huckins) Boman; father, Leonard Boman; and sister Nancy Vanderbush.

Leon will be lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend of 51 years, Ada Jane (Slee)Boman, and his 10 children: Judy Soper (Dennis), Polly Boman (Jim Laforge), Lennie Boman, Raynee Bishop, Mellisa Boman (Robert Gnann), Tommy Boman (Cynthia), stepchildren David Burlingame (Luanne), Theresa Burlingame, Iva Cummings (Mike) and John Burlingame (Tracy). Leon will also be lovingly remembered by his 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 3 great-great granchildren; his mother, Dorothy (Wilson) Boman; and sisters Ella Shaffer and Carla Herkner (Gale).

Leon will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, as well as being an accomplished pilot, enthusiastic boater, avid woodworker, self-taught musician, and as one who loved to travel and spend time with his family. He was a life member of the Warren Masonic Lodge 427 of Coleman; Master Mechanic for Cadillac, Chrysler and Detroit engines; and an operating engineer and member of Local 324 for 27 years. Leon owned and operated: Boman Trucking (Michigan), Boman Trucking (Florida), and a business that grew out of his garage which later became known as Northwood Steel, Inc.

He is sadly missed by his two dogs, Brodie and Stryker, and two cats, Samson and Max.

Services will be held at the Swanton Memorial Center, 6460 North Water Rd., Edenville, Michigan on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Old Edenville Cemetery. Masonic rites will be performed by the Warren Lodge 427.
