Paul J. Merowchek

PAUL JOSEPH MEROWCHEK, 74, of DeBary, FL passed away on December 21, 2010, at Orlando Regional Medical Center, Orlando, FL.

Paul was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Bloomfield, Brielle, and Howell, NJ prior to settling in DeBary, FL three years ago.

He was employed as an auto parts salesman/manager at several NJ Chevrolet dealearships.

He was an avid fan of stock car racing, and for many years, together with his good friend Robert Shirley, raced a Junior Stock, Division One, N/SA 1957 Chevrolet race car, “Bucks or Cups” at many drag strips in the northeast. He later raced an oval track dirt car, No. 71, at East Windsor Speedway before retiring from driving. He continued his love for the sport by attending many different race tracks, and then volunteering to drive a tow truck at Wall Stadium, in Wall Township, NJ.

He was predeceased by his father Francis Joseph Merowchek, his mother Marguerite Cummings Trunzo, and his step-father, Russell Trunzo; his sister, Lynn Trunzo, and his brother Russell Trunzo.

Paul is survived by his wife Beverly, his daughter Karen Merowchek of Durham,, NC, his daughter Michelle and her husband Christopher Higgins, and his beloved grandchildren Steven and Timothy Higgins, of Buffalo, NY; his sister, Theresa Trunzo of Nutley, NJ, brothers Frank Merowchek of Matawan, NJ, John Trunzo of Keansburg, NJ, Anthony Trunzo and his wife Patricia of Sparta, NJ, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, January 19, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 28 Brookline Ave., Nutley, NJ, and the repast immediately following at Centanni Ristorante, 11-35 River Road, North Arlington, NJ.
