Rosamond Marie Chesley
Rosamond “Sis” Marie Chesley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 at the age of 78. She was surrounded by her family at her home in DeBary, Florida.
Born in Princess Anne, Maryland in 1943, she was the daughter of Fred Long and Dorothy (Meyer) Long. Her family moved to Orlando, FL in 1948 and she graduated from Edgewater High School in 1961. After a whirlwind courtship, she had a double wedding with her brother David (Marie) Long and married Ron Chesley in November of 1961; they have been married 59 years. Sis and Ron raised their family in both Orlando, FL and Campton, NH, keeping homes in both locations throughout their lives.
Sis was a life-long homemaker as it was a full-time job keeping Ronnie in line. When she wasn’t busy taking care of her four children and ruling the house with a pink Avon brush, she was serving up french fries at state fairs and festivals around New England. Her hobbies included shopping and ultimately returning clothes to Talbots, Macy’s, and Penny’s, gardening, “cleaning”, capturing memories with her camera, and doting on her Yorkshire terrier, Queen Victoria.
Sis is survived by her husband, Ronald, her four children, Ronald Chesley Jr., Sonya (Michael) Leonard, Elizabeth (Eddie) Benton, and Jamie Chesley; her three siblings, Pearl Barker, Paul Long, David (Terry) Long; her ten grandchildren, Jacob Chesley, Lauren Chesley, Scott (Jill) Leonard, Todd (Becca) Leonard, Kristy (Ronnie) Moten, Amy (Shane) Stevenson, Tiffany (Stephen) Baert, Robert (Lindsay) Benton, Madison Benton, and Charlee-Ann McMahon; eleven great-grandchildren; loving nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held in August with a graveside service to follow at Blair Cemetery in Campton, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
