​Roy Leo Viens

Sanford, FL; Mr. Roy L. Viens, age 87, husband of the late Barbara D. Viens passed away on Wednesday October 10, 2018 after a long struggle with Diabetes.

Mr. Viens was born September 10, 1931 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Leo and Aldea (Racette) Viens. He was raised and educated in Springfield schools and was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He worked as a Manager for the State of Connecticut Department of Labor before retiring in 1986 and moving to Lecanto Florida in 1989. After retirement he and his late wife enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading and playing cards.  Like his father, Mr. Viens also enjoyed woodworking. He was active in his community, was an avid gardener and fisherman as well as being an accomplished artist.

Mr. Viens was preceded in death by his brother Wilfred Viens and a son, David O’Neil. He is survived by 2 sons, Kevin (Sandra) Viens of Meriden, CT and Dennis (Vicki) O’Neil of Meriden, CT, 2 daughters Michelle (James) Powers of DeBary, FL and Suzanne (Mark) Hanson of Monroe, OH, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be under the direction of Altman-Long Funeral Home, DeBary, Florida. A service of Remembrance for Mr. Roy L. Viens will be held at 11:00am, Thursday October 18, 2018 at River City Church 267 E. Highbanks Rd. DeBary, FL 32713. Cards and flowers may be sent to the church.
