Russell Eugene Wellman
Russ Wellman, 76, of DeLand, Florida passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020. He shared his last days with his children, Bill and Jodi.
Russ was born to Ethel Beatrice Elliott and Odell Harris Wellman on April 15, 1944.
He worked as a Surveyor for both Ohio and Florida state governments and was a member of the Masonic Temple. Russ had a good heart and an ornery streak. He was a lot like the colorful, crazy shirts he used to wear: loud and vibrant. He was known for wearing his black leather jacket - even in the Florida heat. It was a reminder that he could take a gamble with whatever life dealt and he would be just fine. He believed in angels and it’s clear he had many looking out for him. Angels showed up in the form of strangers at his various stops through his day. The family is grateful for these strangers who were family to Russ.
Russ is loved and survived by his son: Bill; grandchildren: Holden and Robert; daughter: Jodi Lynn; grandchildren: David, Elysa, Kathryn, Jessica, and John; 8 great grandchildren; and other relatives.
Russ will be missed by his many friends throughout Ohio and Florida.
Final resting place will be Kingwood Memorial Gardens in Ohio with a family gathering at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you call someone you haven’t talked to in a long time and take a friend to lunch.
